Bill McCarthy is principally involved in personal injury matters, including common law, workers compensation and medical and dental negligence litigation.
In his several years of practice as a lawyer in the Australian Government Solicitor’s Office, he was involved in administrative law and statutory interpretation.
He has advised statutory bodies in the ACT on requirements under Commonwealth Acts. He has acted for ACT based statutory authorities and regularly advises on issues arising from worker's compensation claims lodged with employers and Comcare. Bill is often required to advise on entitlements and rights in relation to rehabilitation, social security and Medicare.
He has extensive experience in commercial litigation in the ACT courts involving insurance issues, building and contract disputes, and employment matters.
Bill provides pro bono advice to a number of ACT based arts bodies and is a panel lawyer with the Arts Law Centre of Australia.
